Marketing Communication Director
Altea:

What does Altea’s claim "The Art of Assistance" mean to you?
Altea is based on the competence and the efforts of human beings.
At the heart of the company are our operators who exploit technology compe-tently in order to provide our users with an easy and complete solution: this is the Art of Assistance. Art signifies for me both style and personal-ity. That is why our claim serves as a powerful creative message which uses Art as a medium to communicate the uniqueness of Altea - Centred on human beings.

What role will so-called WASPs and mobile portals play in new services?
Mobile portals provide an interface through which mobile users can
access Internet content quickly and easily. Wireless ASPs
(WASPs) provide access to centrally hosted applications such as mobile personnel man-agement software, e-mail or games. In
addition to advertising and com-mission revenues, applications are targeted at individuals, many of them offered through portals.

That is why Altea is extending the range of access to its services to in-clude both fixed and mobile devices. Applications will need to become "device-agnostic", which means that they will be indistinguishable from their fixed counterparts in five years’ time.
Altea will ensure that its cus-tomers benefit from all these technological developments. Mobile portals and WASPs today face certain technical challenges, but these will be solved in the future as networks and terminals improve and new standards are established.

What makes Altea such a promising company?
Both quality of service and technology. Altea’s business idea is focused on a relevant and fast growing market: telematics,
specifically online per-sonal assistance. Lengthy experience in
dealing with "crisis situations", exploiting the telematics technologies available, makes Altea a key player in the rapidly growing market of service providers. Altea is positioned to be a leading European player in online, voice and wireless destination information and assistance, thanks to its market presence, its know-how and its strong management team. The company is implementing an ac-tion plan to establish its Worldwide leadership, through revenue growth, further openings, new services and the use of the latest technology. Altea’s challenge is to become the premier Worldwide "personal assistant".

Why are people and technology so important?
New technologies are changing people’s lives radically. The
availability of tools, channels and contents will improve the quantity
of service and the access to technology. But to make the most of technology, the human being always has to be in the Centre of this scenario. Altea is the Art of Assistance because our business revolves around people who use technology for the safety and convenience of humans.

You have been in the company since the beginning. What has been special about your career?
I started as an operator in the Dispatching Centre; after six months, I be-come D.C. Manager. After one year, I left the Dispatching Centre to begin my managerial career, which has included commercial, administration and technical posts. At the beginning of our venture, our resources were very limited, but we had the enthusiasm to create something special and new. For me, it was really important to be part of this project and to "grow up" professionally.

Why did you choose to work with Altea?
Before I came to Altea, I worked in a legal office, but working for Altea is definitely more fun! I like to get up in the morning and go to work well motivated to tackle the day. Altea offered me this opportunity. Working for Altea is not always easy, but I appreciate the chance to improve myself and be part of a constantly changing world.

Which characteristics of Altea attracted your interest initially?
I was very pleased by the fact that Altea is an international company, so that I can use and improve my language skills. Moreover, when I came to Altea more than two years ago, I did not know much about technical fea-tures such as GPS technology or car alarms, so I was very pleased to learn so much while working here.

What is needed in order to be a good operator?
I would advise new colleagues to do their very best, because our job involves a great deal of responsibility, but also satisfaction.
Operators must stay calm during alarm situations without losing control. Moreover, they must be friendly and fast when solving customers’ problems, offering them the best possible solutions and services.

Did you receive proper training from Altea?
Yes, the training is extensive. A new operator learns about the job from all specific departments. The training covers technical support, daily office regulation as well as working on the phone. The added value is clearly the opportunity to work alongside experienced operators, learning to judge and solve different service situations.

What do you think about career opportunities inside Altea?
The growth opportunities are evident. There are lots of opportunities to develop personally and business-wise as Altea expands throughout the World.

Do you see a big future for the company?
Do you believe in it? YES! Service is about people and we are a strong team! In addition, we have the skills and technology to move forward.

What are the characteristics that make Altea’s service
unique on the market?

People! We are "happy" people who work together. Customer satisfaction is our goal. When we can say "This customer is happy", we are happy as well!

When you recruit new operators, what attracts your attention, what are you looking for?
Many things - but the most important characteristic is the ability to work in a team. And a big and sincere smile is a good way to start teamwork!!
