It is with great sadness that we announce that our CEO, Iacopo Bini Smaghi, the founder of the Altea Group, has passed away after a brief and fatal illness.
We have lost one of the most talented pioneers of telematics.
Iacopo Bini Smaghi was a visionary and a forerunner, helping to shape the world of telematics. He forecast its coming and innovated the relationship between technology and man.
But Iacopo was above all a concrete example of a consistent ethic of life.As a man of strong faith, he lived by applying high moral principles in every single moment of his life. He showed to us all that by making the right choices we can live a normal and engaging life. And he did so in times which are unfortunately showing deplorable examples at all levels.
Jacopo will be sorely missed by all who knew him. The legacy of his ideas and his way of living will be cherished and followed by those who recognize their worth.
It is sad to think that Iacopo will be no more and it is good to know that the mark he has left will never leave us.
